For many years, our story - how we started, where we came from, and what we’ve overcome - has quietly lived in the background. It’s a story built on grit, long hours, and uncertain odds. As we continue to grow, we want to take a moment to share where it all began.
TBM Service Group (TBM) was built on a legacy of strong work ethic, perseverance, and commitment to family. Inspired by his father’s Winnipeg-based custodial business, Ravi Ramanand, the youngest of six, carried forward those values when he and his wife, Caroline Harduwar, founded Top Notch Building Maintenance in early 2002.
In the early days, Ravi “got his hands dirty” on every project he could secure. Ravi’s brother, Vinny, soon joined, and together with Caroline spent countless evenings at their kitchen table — drafting client proposals, mapping out contracts, and imagining what the business could become. The small janitorial business got on the map when they secured their first government contract.
Ravi’s older brother, Val, joined soon after. While the brothers focused on building the client base, Caroline balanced a demanding corporate career to provide the financial stability that kept their family’s dream alive. Her commitment and sacrifice were instrumental in allowing the business to grow from an idea into a lasting enterprise.
With a wavering commitment and collective effort, the family established the business and laid the foundation for what would evolve into one of Canada’s most trusted and diversified facility service providers.
The company expanded its custodial capabilities into transit, education facilities, municipal governments, commercial buildings and warehouses, allowing for greater opportunity. In 2015, Caroline became more integrated into the day-to-day operations of the company. Shortly after, the company experienced a true shining moment when it won the contract to provide custodial services at the 2015 PanAm and Para-Pan Games in Toronto. In 2016, Top Notch Building Maintenance became TBM Service Group to better represent the capabilities of the business.
Building on the success of TBM, Solaris Disinfection Inc. was founded in 2016 to drive technological advancement and innovation. Two years later, AAS Canada was established to provide essential airport and mobility services across the country. That same year, in response to the growing demand for food facility sanitation, TBM launched its Food Sanitation Division.
From donating to scholarship programs at George Brown College to supporting organizations, including Eva’s Shelter and Frontline Outreach, the family has always believed in giving back to the communities in which they live and work.
Today, TBM Service Group, AAS Canada, and Solaris Disinfection collectively employ over 3,000 dedicated team members across Canada. Yet at their core, these companies remain family-driven and rooted in the belief that true success is measured not only in growth, but in how we serve others.
As we grow into the future, Ravi’s vision remains clear: to build a sustainable, people-first organization that honours its roots while embracing innovation and opportunity.
Guided by integrity and driven by purpose, TBM Service Group and its family of companies represent more than a business; they embody a legacy in motion.
